I’ve been thinking about something controversial and I’m curious to get your thoughts. Do you think playing social casino games could actually help someone quit real gambling? I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out. These games give you the same dopamine rush without risking real money. Maybe it could be a way to ease off gambling gradually? Or is it just another trap that keeps us hooked? Has anyone tried this? Did it help or make things worse? Let’s hear some real experiences and opinions.
@awheck411 I get where you’re coming from, but I have to say, using social casino games to quit real gambling is like a drug addict switching to cigarettes to quit drugs. It might seem like a safer alternative, but it often leads to relapse. There’s a long history of gambling addicts playing these social games and ending up spending thousands of dollars within the games themselves.
Sure, it might be better than real-life gambling in that you’re not losing your house or stealing stuff, but you’re still playing with fire. These games can keep you hooked on the same dopamine rush, making it harder to break free from the addiction cycle.
Personally, I’d avoid social casino games during recovery. Try playing word games or puzzle games instead. They can be just as engaging without the risk of falling back into gambling habits.
Going to chime in on this and agree with @AdminJanePlane. Although this seems like a good idea, just don’t do it. I’ve had friends who have spent hundreds on these things. Not just social casino games but things like candy crush saga too in the past.
You’re much better off subscribing to something like Apple Arcade, Xbox Game Pass, or Google Play Pass and paying the $20/mo or whatever to play games in that which don’t have micro-purchases or urges that can get you in trouble.
Video games can be therapeutic don’t get me wrong. But avoid social casino and avoid micro purchases. Free or the larger platform subscription is the way to go .
AVOID!!! MY BEST FRIEND WAS ADDICTED TO A BINGO GAME! Spent ten grand in a year. AVOID at all costs. Like others say there’s better ways.
