I’m in deep with these damn slot machines. Can’t stop playing, it’s like they got a hold on me. Spent all my money, maxed out my credit cards. I’m lying to my family, saying I’m working late but really I’m just at the casino or online, feeding these slots. It’s eating me up inside, I feel like a zombie. Don’t know what to do anymore, I’m losing myself. Need help bad, anyone else been here? How do you stop this madness?
Man, I feel your pain. Been there, done that. Slots are a losing proposition, always have been, always will be. The house edge is brutal, and the more you play, the more you lose. Check out my post on it here: Why Hitting the Jackpot in Slots is Just a Mathematical Mirage
It’s all designed to keep you hooked, flashing lights and big wins just to suck you back in. I was deep in it too, spent a fortune chasing those damn machines 15years ago. Here’s my post on celebrating that milestone: Year 15 : How’s About that?.
What helped me was realizing it’s a trap, a money pit with no way out.
You gotta cut it off cold turkey. Block the sites, stay away from the casinos. Find something else to fill that void, something that doesn’t bleed you dry. It ain’t easy, but you can do it. All I know brother or sister is that if I can do it, you too can do it. But you gotta start today. Stop and never look back. Like my name goes, Slots SUCK! They suck the money and LIFE out of you. Reclaim both today.
I get how slots can pull you in, they’re designed to be addictive. Just curious, what slots were you playing? Were there specific ones that really got you hooked? Sometimes knowing what draws us in can help figure out how to avoid those traps in the future. Hang in there, we’re all here to support you.
I hear you, and I’ve been there. Those slots are designed to ensnare you and bleed you dry. You’ve already taken the first step by admitting you’ve got a problem, and that’s huge. You need to sever your access to gambling right now. Block the casino sites on your phone and computer; use router-level blocking if you have to. Hand over your finances to someone you trust.
Replace that rush with something healthier. Dive into a hobby. Exercise; read; cook, anything that keeps your hands and mind occupied. Don’t keep this struggle to yourself. Call 1-800-GAMBLER or check out local resources for counseling. They can connect you with free sessions and support groups.
Thanks man that really makes me feel better that someone has made it that far. Truly inspiring stuff. You’ll be happy to know I haven’t been back to the casino since this post. But it’s mostly because I don’t have any money. But ya, I’m over it. Just want to scream at the top of my lungs.
Just checking back in today to make sure you’re good? Staying away from those slots? Hope you are. Sending some love your way. It gets easier.
@AllCanDoBetter appreciate you following up, really means a lot. Yes I have been staying away. For the same reasons as before, broke as a joke. I still think about it every waking second. I have been reading some old books and that has made me feel better. Feels like I’m about to turn a corner.
